Waste Concern Consultants (WCC) in joint venture with BORDA Ltd of Germany has designed user friendly & energy efficient public and community toilets for the coastal towns of Bangladesh. This initiative is carried out under the project entitled `Coastal Towns Environmental Infrastructure Improvement Project (CTEIP)’ funded by the Asian Development Bank (ADB). The Executing Agencies for the Project is the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives (MLGRDC) acting through its Local Government Engineering Department (LGED) and the Department of Public Health Engineering (DPHE).
These toilets are designed with the features of natural lighting & ventilation, considering physically challenged friendly design, rain water harvesting facility along with faecal sluge management system. This Project is being implemented in 2 (two) batches in ten vulnerable coastal towns (Batch I Towns: Amtali, Galachipa, Mathbaria and Pirojpur. Batch II Towns: Barguna, Bhola, Daulat Khan, Kalapara, Patukhali and Bargerhat.
