Waste related projects that reduce GHG emission can have economic, social, environmental, and health benefits apart from climate change benefits.  Waste Concen has quantified  and monetized the co-benefits (apart from GHG emission reduction) associated with a waste sector composting project implemented by Waste Concern in Bulta, Narayanganj. The co-benefits are described in  the following Table.

Waste Concern also extends itself in the policy-making arena, steering environmentally-appropriate governmental regulations, both existing and new. To date, we have been influential in the development of 29 governmental policies:

5.  Involved in the process of developing the Strategy for Sustainable Development
6.  Created example of Public Private Community Partnership (PPCP) as approach for Urban Services
7.  Developed New Methodology for Composting as CDM Project
8.  Comprehensively promoted the concept “Waste as Resource” throughout the country
9.  Developed guideline for RFP and contract document for engagement of private sector in the operation and maintenance of Integrated Resource Recovery Centers (IRRCs).
