TA-9590 SRI: Capacity Building for Secondary Towns and Strategic Cities

Description of work: 

  • Under this project following activities were being performed:
  • Worked with PMU staff and other consultants to identify the waste management interventions for the project.
  • Identified potential sites for implementation of the solid waste management sub-project.
  • Led technical and socioeconomic analysis and prepared the waste management feasibility study.
  • Identified appropriate interventions (both hard and soft) and proposed the implementation process
  • Addressing climate-resilient integrated waste management.
  • Prepared conceptual engineering design, drawings, cost estimates, operation, and maintenance arrangements.
  • Proposed an institutional and implementation modality for construction and O&M, such as service contracts, build-operate, and performance-based contracts, with special attention to sustainability and the scope of private sector/community/NGO involvement.
  • Closely worked with other experts, explored the viability, and developed an integrated waste Management facility taking into account the 4R (refuse, reduce, reuse, and recycle) strategy and considering the circular economy concept.
  • Proposed an appropriate procurement mechanism for the waste management components.
  • Led the design and cost estimate of a low-carbon and climate-resilient project aiming to attract climate and/or ocean financing, coordinating with PMU.
