3R (Reduce, Reuse and Recycle) Pilot Initiative to Reduce the Impact of Greenhouse Gas (GHG) in Dhaka and Chittagong Cities (Phase 1)

Description of work: 

 

Preparation of detailed design of compost plants (capacity 20 Tons per day for each city corporation) for both the city corporations (DSCC & DNCC).

 

Activities performed: Under this project Waste Concern Consultants (WCC) provided the following technical supports:

  • Prepared detailed technical architectural and structural design drawings for the construction of 2 (two) compost plants, 1 (one) in Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) and 1 (one) in Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC).
  • Prepared detailed technical architectural and structural design drawings for the construction of 4 (four) Transfer Stations for municipal solid waste, 2 (two) in DNCC area and 2 (two) in DSCC area.
  • Assisted Department of Environment (DoE) to carry out capacity building training and income generating activities. Developed awareness generating materials for DoE to carry out awareness generation programs on waste recycling, composting and segregation of waste for citizens, local NGOs, CBOs and private sectors.
  • Supported DOE to link the project under the existing 64 District CDM project of the Government.
