3Rs for Green Economy and Sound and Material- Cycle Society
Second Meeting of the Regional 3R Forum in Asia,

The Second Meeting of the Regional 3R Forum in Asia was held from 4-6 October 2010, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Ministry of Housing and Local Government of Malaysia; Japan’s Ministry of the Environment and United Nations Centre for Regional Development (UNCRD). Support was extended by German Technical Cooperation (GTZ), Institute for Global Environmental Strategies (IGES), and Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia (ERIA). H. E. YB. Dato’ Wira Chor Chee Heung, Honorable Minister of Housing and Local Government, gave his opening remarks as session chair. Other individuals who offered their perspectives during this inaugural session included: Mr. Takeshi Hidaka, Parliamentary Secretary of the Environment, Japan, Kazunobu Onogawa, Director, UNCRD and Ms. Kenza Kaouakib‐Robinson, Division for Sustainable Development (DSD), United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA) gave their remarks during this inauguralsession.

More than 150 senior ranking officials and experts from about 23 countries participated in this event. The participating countries are: Cambodia, Lao PDR, Myanmar, Thailand, Viet Nam, Bangladesh, Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, Mongolia,  Philippines, Timor Leste, China, India, Japan, Republic of Korea, Malaysia,  Singapore, Fiji, Kiribati, Palau, Samoa and Solomon Islands. Mr. A. H. Md. Maqsood Sinha, Executive Director of Waste Concern attended this meeting as Subsidiary Expert Group Member in this workshop made a presentation entitled, `Public‐Private‐Community partnership for the 3Rs promotion in Bangladesh’ in  the Plenary Session 4: Implementing 3R Programmes and Strategies at Local, National and Regional Level.
