Development Partnership Program for South Asia: Best Practices for MSWM in South Asia- A Knowledge Product

Client:   Asian Development Bank, Philippines

Description of work:

The primary objective of this assignment is to facilitate regional learning in organic waste management, a sub-area of municipal solid waste management, by documenting innovative and successful technological and management practices that are feasible for the South Asian context. The purpose is to help overcome municipal solid waste challenges by determining ways to scale up efforts in organic waste management in the four selected countries of South Asia. As more than 70 percent of municipal solid waste in this region is biodegradable (organic), an enormous potential exists to improve existing operations and to provide positive economic and environmental benefits, including increased revenue generation through carbon co-financing and Clean Development Mechanism.
