Design of Six Public Toilets in Munshiganj

1. Assignment
   Waste Concern intends to design six (6) public toilets at selected locations in Munshiganj Municipality under the project “Integrated Urban Water Management at the Centre of Municipal Public Services”. A Short-Term Architect will be engaged for two (2) months to undertake site assessment, architectural design and preparation of construction-ready drawings in coordination with the project technical team.
2. Objective
   To develop functional, hygienic, accessible, gender-responsive and site-specific architectural designs for six public toilets, considering user requirements, site conditions, water supply, drainage, sanitation/FSM, accessibility, safety and operation and maintenance.
3. Scope of Services
   The Architect shall:

• Review available site information and undertake site visits to all six locations;
• Assess site dimensions, access, existing structures, utilities, drainage and sanitation conditions;
• Prepare architectural concepts and functional layouts for the six public toilets;
• Design appropriate male, female and accessible toilet facilities, including handwashing and sanitary waste provisions;
• Incorporate gender-responsive, safe, user-friendly and privacy-conscious features;
• Consider natural lighting and ventilation, flood/waterlogging risks, drainage and durable low-maintenance materials;
• Coordinate architectural layouts with structural, plumbing, electrical, drainage and FSM requirements;
• Prepare detailed architectural plans, elevations, sections and construction details;
• Review drawings prepared by the Draftsman and ensure technical accuracy and consistency; and
• Incorporate comments from the Project Team and finalize the design package.

6. Preliminary architectural layouts;
7. Detailed plans, elevations, sections and architectural details;
8. Accessibility, signage and finishing details;
9. Final coordinated CAD and PDF drawing package for all six public toilets; and
10. Final revised drawings incorporating project comments.
11. Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Architecture from a recognized university;
• Minimum one years of relevant professional experience;
• Demonstrated experience in architectural design of public/community facilities; experience in public toilets/WASH facilities will be an advantage;
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and relevant architectural design software; and
• Knowledge of applicable Bangladesh building, accessibility and construction requirements.

6. Duration and Reporting
   The assignment will be for two (2) months between August and October 2026. The Architect will report to the Project Manager and work closely with the sanitation/FSM and other technical specialists.
7. Level of Effort
   Short-term engagement, with sufficient availability for site visits, design development, coordination and revisions during the assignment period.
